$5000-$6000 for this large mural for the atrium dining room, installed including the content and media players for the video displays. The 70″ video displays are as big as they could be, and I think they’ll work out well. Once the postion of them can be confirmed, then the recesses for the displays can begin. The displays will fit pretty much exactly between the two ventilation ducts, with the lower edge at about 82.75 inches from the floor in my proposed layout below. The media players can be located wherever the other content players are located.
For the pre-existing sign post We’ve been working on the best production method to produce this faux marquee sign for the larger lower pane.
This sign can be produced in a variety of manners that each have notable features.
Prices are posted as I receive quotes.
Band stickers on the tops of the light fixtures? Not complete coverage.
Need a list of acceptable bands, movements.
Vintage concert shirts as uniforms. (more interesting, genuine)
Alternately, a custom Stone Rose vintage inspired tour shirt or two could be designed for staff.
One original example of street art/ Stone Rose Cantina iconography.
This can be applied in a less conspicuous area as a wallpaper pasted “street graphic”.
Others in a similar style can be added in more areas.
There’s plenty of locations and potential for fun / interesting design elements.
Icons for bathroom door:
Illustrated Silhouette of the same rock hairstyle on each door (think spikey mullet). One with a bow, the other with a sweatband.
Or two distinctly male/ female rock hairstyles.
A relatively minor detail, but it was brought up, so I wanted to add it here. To address a balance of “warmth and softness” to the space, succelent planters on some or all of the tables that might also act as caddy’s for hot sauces, etc… Some of these kind of look like an interpretation of a stone rose, as well! Really good looking artificial succulents exist now as well for a super low maintenance option.
aprox. 25’ x 2.5′ panoramic photo in the southeastern brick walled space, the image would be a stretched canvas print, potentially warmly back-lit. So far the image presented here is the best we’ve been able to locate, and I’m developing a few imaging processes for it. Suspended overhead, running the length of the print would be a 2” black pipe with aprox. 25 par can lights aimed both toward and away from the wall. They would have theatrical gels in shades of red and blue, and would subtly and fade up and down individually to add some energy without being obnoxious for diners. One par can above each table would have a separately controlled, dimmable warm white light for dining. Energy efficient bulbs would be used. We suggest black par cans, but they could be chrome if you wanted to draw more attention to them. $4000 estimate for mural + all lighting equipment, installed.
Along the brick wall of the southwestern dining area is suggested a large format sign faced with softly chasing lightbulbs. The sign could potentially be hung on a downward angle. This could span the length of the pinball and dining area, or the pinball could be something else.
Our latest suggestion is a sign with 4 words, probably from neon, and with the left two words, and right two words stacked on top each other (clear tube neon) so there’s only one line. The words alternately illuminate randomly to assemble one of 4 combinations. There may be another word that could be added to the mix, potentially.
Or an icon like a giant microphone could also be fun, but I think simple is the right direction.
An estimate for this sign installation with all electric components installed is roughly $1750-$3500. An actual design will determine the cost. Working on a rendering of this now.
Stone Rose Lyrics
I AM THE GARAGE FLOWER
HEART ON THE STAVES
YOUR TIME WILL COME
YOUR RIVER WILL RUN
SUMMER SKIES WILL LIGHT YOUR EYES
YOU’RE THE HARDEST THING IN THE WORLD
KISS ME WHERE THE SUN DON’T SHINE
CITRUS-SUCKING SUNSHINE
WORDS & PHRASES

GIVE ME A BEAT
TURN UP THE MIC
TURN IT UP
ROCK IT
ROCK ON / OUT
WITH YOUR _____ OUT
LET’S TACO ‘BOUT IT
Dream on!
Come as you are, as you were, as I want you to be.
On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair.
Hey! Teacher, leave those kids alone.
Love is all you need
Rock you like a hurricane
We can be heroes
We will rock you
Ground control to Major Tom
Take me to wonderland
Be young, be foolish, be happy.
This area’s challenges are the many cut-outs which make some treatments more effective. It may be effective to treat this wall section the same as the nearby bathroom hallway. Some images, like the illuminated mirrors might look great in the bathrooms.
-Initial thought is vintage faux wood paneling with simple framed prints of appropriate rock stars, maybe bumper stickers, and or sharpie autographs/ graffiti. Paneling up 8′, paint above.
-70’s wallpaper could be another direction.
-Perhaps tufted velvet in gold, dark teal or blue. Tuft-buttons could be band logo buttons.
-Could be colorful concert posters as wallpaper.
-Material References to a recording studio. Wood flats. Acoustic Panels. illuminated RECORDING sign above door.
-Stacks of speakers.
Beer sign board ideas:
Felt letter boards in blue with white letters or gray with black and white letters. Use larger 2″ letters. Frame could be aluminum road case hardware.
Vinyl (menu type) letter board in white with red and black letters.
Back-Lit “portable marquee” with 4″ black and red letters.
The backing board for the portable marquee letters could be another material like plywood or road-case vinyl.
All of the above options are more labor intensive with individual letter placement.
Another suggestion, and our favorite would use in-house printed signs for slots. The scale of these could be adjusted if needed.
Aprox. cost for two complete sign systems: $1000-2500
String lights in red, clear and blue.
Suggested to install on the patio running in direction towards the main entrance door.
Also run along the truss beams in the atrium dining area.
$1200 Cost for string lights, Patio+ Atrium, installed with lamps (main electrical connections not included). Steel cable runs included with patio installation.
Replace exterior sconce lights.
Suggestion of the type of fixture below w/ custom paint job.
–Actual Marquee letters: Cost: initial estimate is $3350 Complete authenticity. Limited set of type to work with. Dimensional letters. All type would be permanently secured. The examples below illustrate the scale of available letters and closely approximate the typeface. Example letter shown to illustrate their appearance.
We’re suggesting a red or white neon arrow for the upper sign, possibly blinking on/off. Clear or red lightbulbs running the perimeter of the exisiting sign, something that already exists. Sealed plywood backing, possibly with a painted arrow backing the neon.
Neon arrow signs (2): $1350
Another suggestion is for the arrow to take on more of a angular rock thunderbolt shape.
This might actually be a great ICON for the establishment, as this is a very ROCKIN’ “S”. I’ve come up with a few versions below:
For the new sign location, we suggest it’s all in one block, positioned at the corner of the patio. The sign is mounted on a custom metal framework. The letters are simple two dimensional with neon centered on the face with white neon . Additionally, we suggest a linear uplight which would cast a saturated matched hue, which would really make the sign “pop”. I haven’t added in a rendering of the string lights to these renderings, but remember they are also there in red, blue and clear incandescent.
Red letters at day and night. White neon. Red uplight.
ROCK OUT WITH YOUR TAKE OUT
For the carry-out on the corner, our initial idea is for the space to evoke the colors and materials of a vintage guitar amp. This might work really well for the paneled areas under the counter in a more literal fashion. The white ceiling should be painted a color less contrasting with the wood beam panels, possibly painting them as well. Rendering to come…
Below are examples of the “palette” we are working from. Graphic design examples are in an area of early computer design and hand-made is still very common, not just in the realm of street art. There’s definitely a great naturally grungy, distressed, often layered look to a lot of this. We want to capture that, while keeping the overall aesthetic more stylized and clean. We aim to create an environment that supports the theme without being too literal, or taking itself too seriously. We want to capture the nostalgia, creating decor which supports an emotional response, engages patrons in fun and clever ways- and is sustainable through Chicago’s cooler months and long term. Creating the details that will make this space vibrant in the summer, and sustainable during the cooler months.
