In 2002, I designed this event for Ruehling & Associates, a Minneapolis intelligent lighting sales and rental facility for their anniversary and open house for their new facility. The owner, Ron Ruehling is a big sci-fi buff, so we created a kitchy sci-fi theme within a variety of scenes and vignettes, including an alien attack on a school dance, Twilight Zone references, and a B-movie space ship interior. Wherever possible, his lighting and effect inventory was utilized, often in unique ways.

Hovering passageways featured a mysterious rear projection.
A small warehouse space was dressed to look like a high school gym dance after an alien attack.
This alien blast through the garage door was your passageway.

Simple accessories transform the office hallways into the into the interior of a space ship.
One office was turned into the engine room viewable through this window.
Weather proof light enclosures become space age fuel cells with some well programmed light fixtures and ambient sound.
The command center of the space ship featured a variety of low-budget flashing displays and effects.
A miniature space vignette was created outside this office window featuring planets and a ufo that traveled on a hanging track system.
