V Live nightclub requested a Times Square theme for their new year’s eve event. This theme posed some challenges as the most recognizable visuals are all advertisements, which we couldn’t use. I designed a scene with illuminated billboard frames, variations on the V Live logo and a lot of color changing, chasing and otherwise illuminated elements. There was a degree of physically animated items as well. I incorporated the club’s LED video panels by adding “MEGATRON” branding to the them, and they displayed a countdown I created, ending in a ball drop using a time square-inspired mirror ball, faceted with chasing strobe lights. Lowered into place, the ball created the last 0 in 2010. Lots of video graphics were created and a fun ambient soundtrack loop was also created for the lobby and entrance areas.
