Willy Wonka Themed Event: Crobar Nightclub
For Halloween in 2005 I was asked to bring Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to life. With the new Tim Burton version of the film just released, along the popularity of the iconic original film, I created my own blend of the two including a working glass elevator able to move in many directions using an unconventional cable and motor system designed by me with engineering help from Crobar production partner Jim Goodall. I had the special joy of playing Tim Burton’s Willy Wonka in a highly detailed costume for the entire weekend! Special effects were utilized everywhere. The club even smelled of chocolate and bubble gum!
Here I am flying around in a multidirectional glass elevator of my own design. Excited and just a bit nervous.
This custom effect featured Mike Teevee walking around the space and sitting on top of the chocolate bar.
The chocolate room recreated, more or less in 2D along the largest wall of the club featured a animated chocolate waterfall projection.
