This project was surprisingly complex. Assembling similar artwork for all of these Chicago sports teams is harder than it may initially seem. It was fun sorting out the best method for creating backgrounds that represented each sport in a realistic and physical manner. Though not especially apparent in these images, hockey was uniquely effective as there was a sense of depth created with the layered “ice” surface. Sidetrack liked this so much that they kept it up for several months longer than initially planned. The above image was the proposal rendering.
